Philadelphia Pedestrian Accident Leaves 7-Year-Old in Critical Condition

A Philadelphia pedestrian accident involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) leaves a Thomas Creighton Elementary student in critical condition after being struck while crossing the street. The incident took place at approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday morning, April 14, 2011, at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.

According to local police, a 7-year-old student missed his school bus and was walking to school when he came to the busy intersection during rush hour. The boy then dashed into the 12-lane road and was struck by the SUV.

Rescue crews transported the Thomas Creighton Elementary student to St. Christopher's Hospital where he was listed in critical condition resulting from serious head injuries.

"We are all saddened by this incident," said Fernando Gallard, a Philadelphia School District spokesperson.

Witnesses report that the driver of the SUV remained at the accident scene and offered assistance. The driver's identity was not immediately made available.

The Philadelphia pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have indicated that they do not intend to file charges against the driver.

Philadelphia Car Accident Involving Stolen Car Claims the Life of 1, Injures 4

A Philadelphia car accident involving two vehicles, including a stolen car, claims the life of one person and leaves four others injured after a driver of a stolen car runs a red light. The incident took place at approximately 7:15 on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2011, in the Southwest Philadelphia area.

According to local police, a 19-year-old male driver in a stolen Acura was traveling westbound on Chester Avenue when he ran a red light and struck a car traveling northbound on 58th street in Kingsessing. The unidentified man's passenger, Kalil Sephus, 20, of Kingsessing, lost his life from injuries sustained in the tragic accident.

Two pedestrians, a 79-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man, were on the sidewalk when they were hit. They have been reported as being in critical condition.

The car was reported stolen in Upper Darby. What caused the man to run the red light is unclear.

The fatal Philadelphia car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The driver of the stolen car was taken into custody.

Atlantic City Bus Accident Leaves 12 Injured

An Atlantic City bus accident leaves 12 people injured after a car collides with a Greyhound Bus along Atlantic Avenue. The incident took place at approximately 5:00 on Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, outside of the Atlantic City bus terminal.

According to reports, a Greyhound bus was pulling out of the Atlantic City bus terminal when a small vehicle struck the side of the bus. The female driver of the car then sped away from the accident scene. The bus was bound for Philadelphia when the incident occurred.

Rescue crews transported approximately 12 people to Atlantic Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening. There were around 12 other people on the bus. Fortunately, no one else was injured in the wreck. The victims' identities were not released.

The early morning Atlantic City bus accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There is no other information available as to what caused the accident or whether the female driver was located by police.

Philadelphia Pedestrian Accident Leaves Young Boy Hospitalized

A Philadelphia pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver sends a 4-year-old boy to a local hospital after he is struck while walking with his father. The incident took place at approximately 8:15 AM on Friday morning, March 18, 2011, at the corner of Darrah Street and Pratt Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

According to local police, a father and his three children were walking across Pratt Street towards vehicles that were going to take the children to school. Then, what police believe to be either a limo service car or a Lincoln Town Car, hit one of the children, a 4-year-old boy.

Rescue crews transported the boy to St. Christopher's Hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and nose. His condition was not immediately made available.

The driver fled the accident scene. Police say that the car has yellow writing on the side. The car was caught on tape speeding away from the accident scene down Pratt Street.

The Philadelphia pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police believe that the first two letters of the hit-and-run car's license plate may possibly be "LM."

Montgomery County Car Accident Claims Life of Phila. Woman

A Montgomery County car accident involving four vehicles claims the life of a Philadelphia woman and sends three others to the hospital. The incident took place at approximately 11:00 PM on Thursday evening, March 3, 2011, along Skippack Pike in Worcester.

According to local police, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was speeding west on Skippack Pike near Landis Road when he made an attempt to pass a slower vehicle. That is when the Jeep struck a Nissan Sentra head-on. The force of the impact caused the Jeep to strike a Toyota Camry, which then flipped over to collide with a Ford Explorer.

The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Emmanuella Semezier, 23, of Philadelphia. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, Jay Banion, 21, of Harleysville, and his passenger, Steven Kratz, were transported by air to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Rescue crews also transported the driver of the Ford Explorer, Katherine Lozano, 19, of Lansdale, to UPMC. Their conditions were not immediately made available.

The Montgomery County car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

Fatal New Jersey Bus Accident May Have Been Caused by Blown Tire

A New Jersey bus accident involving an apparent blown tire claims the lives of two people, including the bus driver. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 PM on Monday evening, March 14, 2011, on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick.

According to Sgt. Stephen Jones of the State Police, the driver of a Philadelphia-bound bus lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a concrete support of an overpass. Statements made by some of the passengers indicate that one of the tires on the bus may have blown out, resulting in the driver losing control.

The driver of the bus has been identified as Wei Wang, 50, of Forrest Hills, Queens. The force of the impact sent him 15 feet through the windshield. Rescue crews pronounced Mr. Wang dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt as required by law.

Bus passenger, Troy Nguyen, 20, of Royersford, Pa., also lost his life in the accident. Mr. Lopez was arrested and faces various charges including assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, to name a few.

Rescue crews transported Santiago to Temple University Hospital where she was treated for severe head injuries and broken bones sustained in the accident. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead a few hours later.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the accident scene and was last seen heading east on Cumberland Street from Fifth Street. The truck has been described as being a tan or white midsized truck with a dented passenger door. The dent is not believed to be related to the incident.

A Philadelphia car accident involving at least one vehicle claims the life of a mother. The incident took place sometime late Wednesday night, October 27, 2010, along the Schuylkill Expressway.

According to police, 34-year-old Lateisha Johnson lost control of her black Infiniti, crashed through a guardrail and hit an embankment before finally coming to a stop 40 feet above the ground in a tree. Police believe that her 15-year-old daughter was thrown from the vehicle though an open window.

Police spokesperson Lt. Ray Evers reports that State Police spotted the unidentified teen walking along the expressway. Rescue crews transported her to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she was treated for injuries sustained in the wreck.

When police tried to interview the 15-year-old girl she was too disoriented to offer any assistance. However, the next day she began to remember what happened and told police that she was driving in a car with her mother and that there had been an accident.

Police found the car in a tree the next day. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Officials believe that she died at impact.

A Strongstown car accident involving two vehicles claims the life of a Seward man and leaves two others injured. The incident took place at approximately 9:45 PM on Saturday evening, October 2, 2010, along Route 403.

According to state police, Lawrence “Skip” Crane, 49, of Seward, stopped along Route 403 to help a motorist with a disabled vehicle. Crane was helping push the disabled vehicle out of a ditch when another car slammed into the vehicle. The force of the impact sent the disabled car into Crane and threw him nearly 60 feet.

Crane was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, reported Indiana County Coroner Michael Baler.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the disabled car has been identified as Alicia Ashbaugh, 19, of Northern Cambria. Ashbaugh, along with her 19-year-old passenger, Joseph Kuzar, of Patton, were reported as suffering minor injuries.

The identity of the owner of the disabled vehicle was not immediately made known. However, police believe that the car was involved in an earlier wreck.

Police were assisted by Pine Township and Cherry Hill Township fire crews.

University City Bus Accident Involves 60 Passengers

A University City bus accident near Philadelphia left 60 passengers stranded after the bus strikes a SEPTA utility work truck. The incident took place at approximately 3:15 AM on Wednesday morning, September 15, 2010, near the 30th Street Station.

According to reports, the double-decker coach owned by Coach USA struck a SEPTA work truck after one of the cargo hatches on the curb side of the bus opened. That is when the hatch door struck the utility truck tearing off the hatch door. The incident left the Megabus inoperable and the 60 passengers onboard stranded for up to two hours.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The bus was in route to Washington at the time of the crash. A replacement bus arrived at approximately 5:30 AM.

The bus accident comes on the heels of another bus crash the previous weekend that claimed the lives of four passengers and left four others injured. The Megabus was in route to Toronto from Philadelphia and the accident took pace in Syracuse, N.Y.

Center City Car Accident Shuts Down Vine Street Expressway

A Center City car accident involving four vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, shuts down the Vine Street Expressway and causes headaches for morning commuters. The incident took place at approximately 6:30 AM on Monday morning, September 13, 2010, near the Broad Street exit.

According to reports, a tractor-trailer slammed into the rear of a black BMW. The force of the impact forced the vehicles into two others, a silver sedan and a white pick-up truck. Manayunk Car Accident Leaves One in Critical Condition

A freak Manayunk car accident involving a disabled vehicle leaves a 20-year-old man in critical condition after the vehicle rolls back over him. The incident took place at approximately 4:15 AM on Thursday morning, September 2, 2010, near the Manayunk Wall.

According to police, the unidentified Manayunk man was pushing a disabled 1996 Volvo sedan up Levering Street. His girlfriend, Mary Opal, 19, of East Falls, was steering the vehicle when the car rolled back over him and dragged him over 20 feet. Rescue crews transported the victim to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was listed in extreme critical condition.

Opel has been charged with DUI and aggravated assault for her role in the freak accident. Reports indicate that the two were dating.

“It was an accident, it shouldn’t have happened, but they made some bad choices,” said an unidentified neighbor.

Other neighbors say that the man and his roommates hosted a party that same night. It was unclear as to whether the victim had been drinking prior to the incident.
