  • Philadelphia Pedestrian Accident Leaves 7-Year-Old in Critical Condition

    A Philadelphia pedestrian accident involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) leaves a Thomas Creighton Elementary student in critical condition after being struck while crossing the street. The incident took place at approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday morning, April 14, 2011, at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.

    According to local police, a 7-year-old student missed his school bus and was walking to school when he came to the busy intersection during rush hour. The boy then dashed into the 12-lane road and was struck by the SUV.

    Rescue crews transported the Thomas Creighton Elementary student to St. Christopher's Hospital where he was listed in critical condition resulting from serious head injuries.

    "We are all saddened by this incident," said Fernando Gallard, a Philadelphia School District spokesperson.

    Witnesses report that the driver of the SUV remained at the accident scene and offered assistance. The driver's identity was not immediately made available.

    The Philadelphia pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have indicated that they do not intend to file charges against the driver.

  • Philadelphia Car Accident Involving Stolen Car Claims the Life of 1, Injures 4

    A Philadelphia car accident involving two vehicles, including a stolen car, claims the life of one person and leaves four others injured after a driver of a stolen car runs a red light. The incident took place at approximately 7:15 on Tuesday evening, April 5, 2011, in the Southwest Philadelphia area.

    According to local police, a 19-year-old male driver in a stolen Acura was traveling westbound on Chester Avenue when he ran a red light and struck a car traveling northbound on 58th street in Kingsessing. The unidentified man's passenger, Kalil Sephus, 20, of Kingsessing, lost his life from injuries sustained in the tragic accident.

    Two pedestrians, a 79-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man, were on the sidewalk when they were hit. They have been reported as being in critical condition.

    The car was reported stolen in Upper Darby. What caused the man to run the red light is unclear.

    The fatal Philadelphia car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The driver of the stolen car was taken into custody.

  • Atlantic City Bus Accident Leaves 12 Injured

    An Atlantic City bus accident leaves 12 people injured after a car collides with a Greyhound Bus along Atlantic Avenue. The incident took place at approximately 5:00 on Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, outside of the Atlantic City bus terminal.

    According to reports, a Greyhound bus was pulling out of the Atlantic City bus terminal when a small vehicle struck the side of the bus. The female driver of the car then sped away from the accident scene. The bus was bound for Philadelphia when the incident occurred.

    Rescue crews transported approximately 12 people to Atlantic Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening. There were around 12 other people on the bus. Fortunately, no one else was injured in the wreck. The victims' identities were not released.

    The early morning Atlantic City bus accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There is no other information available as to what caused the accident or whether the female driver was located by police.

  • Philadelphia Pedestrian Accident Leaves Young Boy Hospitalized

    A Philadelphia pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver sends a 4-year-old boy to a local hospital after he is struck while walking with his father. The incident took place at approximately 8:15 AM on Friday morning, March 18, 2011, at the corner of Darrah Street and Pratt Street in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

    According to local police, a father and his three children were walking across Pratt Street towards vehicles that were going to take the children to school. Then, what police believe to be either a limo service car or a Lincoln Town Car, hit one of the children, a 4-year-old boy.

    Rescue crews transported the boy to St. Christopher's Hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and nose. His condition was not immediately made available.

    The driver fled the accident scene. Police say that the car has yellow writing on the side. The car was caught on tape speeding away from the accident scene down Pratt Street.

    The Philadelphia pedestrian accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police believe that the first two letters of the hit-and-run car's license plate may possibly be "LM."

  • Montgomery County Car Accident Claims Life of Phila. Woman

    A Montgomery County car accident involving four vehicles claims the life of a Philadelphia woman and sends three others to the hospital. The incident took place at approximately 11:00 PM on Thursday evening, March 3, 2011, along Skippack Pike in Worcester.

    According to local police, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was speeding west on Skippack Pike near Landis Road when he made an attempt to pass a slower vehicle. That is when the Jeep struck a Nissan Sentra head-on. The force of the impact caused the Jeep to strike a Toyota Camry, which then flipped over to collide with a Ford Explorer.

    The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Emmanuella Semezier, 23, of Philadelphia. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

    The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, Jay Banion, 21, of Harleysville, and his passenger, Steven Kratz, were transported by air to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Rescue crews also transported the driver of the Ford Explorer, Katherine Lozano, 19, of Lansdale, to UPMC. Their conditions were not immediately made available.

    The Montgomery County car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

  • Fatal New Jersey Bus Accident May Have Been Caused by Blown Tire

    A New Jersey bus accident involving an apparent blown tire claims the lives of two people, including the bus driver. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 PM on Monday evening, March 14, 2011, on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick.

    According to Sgt. Stephen Jones of the State Police, the driver of a Philadelphia-bound bus lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a concrete support of an overpass. Statements made by some of the passengers indicate that one of the tires on the bus may have blown out, resulting in the driver losing control.

    The driver of the bus has been identified as Wei Wang, 50, of Forrest Hills, Queens. The force of the impact sent him 15 feet through the windshield. Rescue crews pronounced Mr. Wang dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt as required by law.

    Bus passenger, Troy Nguyen, 20, of Royersford, Pa., also lost his life in the accident. Mr. Nguyen, who was a student at Montgomery County Community College, was traveling with his school friend, Steven Mullahy. They were both riding in the rear of the bus and asleep when the accident occurred. Mr. Mullahy sustained a concussion.

    The New Jersey bus accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Investigators have yet to confirm the exact cause of the crash.

  • South Philadelphia Car Crash on Girard Point Bridge Leads to Injuries

    A South Philadelphia car accident involving two vehicles sends three people to the hospital after the two vehicles collide on the Girard Point Bridge. The incident took place at approximately 4:45 AM on Sunday morning, March 13, 2011, along I-95.

    According to local police, an apparent intoxicated driver operating a 2007 Ford Fusion collided head-on with another vehicle along I-95. The driver was reportedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when the incident occurred.

    The driver of the Ford Fusion has been identified as Megan Bredell of Gibbsboro. Police have indicated that Ms. Bredell showed signs of being intoxicated following the crash.

    Rescue crews transported Ms. Bredell, a passenger in her car and the driver of the second vehicle to the hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. The identities of the other two victims were not immediately released. Details concerning the victim’s injuries and conditions are also unknown.

    The two-vehicle South Philadelphia car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Criminal charges, as well as the results of chemical tests conducted, are still pending.

  • Atlantic City Car Accident Involves K-9 Patrol Car

    An Atlantic City car accident involving a patrol car sends a K-9 Officer to a local hospital after his vehicle was hit by a Mitsubishi Lancer. The incident took place at approximately 6:30 AM on Sunday morning, February 27, 2011, in the 2800 block of Denny Street.

    According to reports, a gray Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Luis Martin Donato Lopez, of Delaware, was seen hitting several parked cars along Denny Street by witnesses. As Mr. Lopez left Denny Street, police spotted him northbound on Iowa Avenue toward Fairmount Avenue. He then turned the wrong way onto Fairmount Avenue (a one-way street) and collided with a patrol car.

    The driver of the patrol car has been identified as K-9 Officer Frank Timek. Rescue crews transported Officer Timek to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. His K-9 partner, Vader, was also treated and released from an area animal hospital.

    Mr. Lopez allegedly damaged seven cars along Denny Street before finally hitting Officer Timek’s vehicle. Mr. Lopez reportedly fled on foot before Vader was finally able to apprehend the suspect. Mr. Lopez was arrested and faces various charges including assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, to name a few.

    The Atlantic City auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities.

  • Deadly Burlington County Car Accident on Route 130

    A Burlington County car accident involving four vehicles claims the life of a woman and leaves 11 others injured after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) slams into the rear of a Mercedes-Benz. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 PM on Monday afternoon, February 21, 2011, on Route 130 in Edgewater Park.

    According to reports, a woman driving an SUV southbound on Route 130 rear-ended a Mercedes. The force of the impact sent the Mercedes into a bus stop and light pole where it struck a pedestrian who was waiting at the bus stop. The SUV, which flipped onto its roof, was sent into the path of two other vehicles at the intersection of Cooper Street.

    Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV lost her life in the four-vehicle crash. Rescue crews transported eleven other victims to nearby hospitals where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Police described some of the injuries as serious. The identities of the victims were not immediately made available.

    The fatal Burlington County auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. It was not immediately made known as to what caused the driver of the SUV to rear-end the Mercedes-Benz.

  • South Philadelphia Truck Accident Leaves 8 Injured

    A South Philadelphia truck accident involving two vehicles leaves eight people injured after a box truck rear ends a passenger van carrying mentally handicapped passengers. The incident took place at approximately 10:00 AM on Tuesday afternoon, February 22, 2011, along Interstate 95.

    According to reports, a box truck rear ended a passenger van along the northbound lanes of I-95 near Washington Avenue. Rescue crews transported the van’s driver along with seven mentally handicapped passengers to local hospitals where they were treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Fortunately, all the victims were reported to be in stable condition.

    It was unclear if the driver of the box truck was injured in the accident. The truck driver’s identity was not immediately made known. No information was provided as to what may have caused the box truck to slam into the rear of the passenger van.

    The South Philadelphia truck wreck is still under investigation by local authorities. Investigators are looking into whether or not there were any existing violations on the truck that may have contributed to the two-vehicle accident.
